1.First Home Owner Grant (FHOG)
The First Home Owners Grant is a one-off payment of $10,000 from the WA Government to help first-home buyers purchase or build a new home.
Key eligibility requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- At least one applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- You must never have owned residential property in Australia before.
- The property must be your principal place of residence.
- You must live in the home for at least 6 continuous months within the first 12 months after settlement or completion.

2. Stamp Duty (Transfer Duty) Concessions for First Home Buyers
WA provides reduced or zero transfer duty (stamp duty) for eligible first-home buyers.
Current typical thresholds (WA)
- $0 stamp duty on homes valued up to about $500,000.
- Reduced duty on homes valued $500,000 – $700,000 (metro areas).
- Regional areas may receive concessions up to $750,000.
For vacant land:
- No duty up to ~$350,000

3. Australian Government Home Guarantee Scheme (5% Deposit)
This is a federal scheme allowing first-home buyers to purchase a home with as little as a 5% deposit without paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).
