To enhance community connection and Indigenous representation, the Vasse Soccer Club has commissioned two local students to create a new logo that is connected to the place of Vasse. Inspired by Aboriginal art, the design is their interpretation of a tiger snake, which inhabits the wetlands of Wadandi. Across Australia’s Aboriginal communities, snakes have been used in art and Dreamtime stories as a symbol of strength, creativity and continuity, which aligns with the Club’s core values.
To bring this logo to life on the field, the Vasse Soccer Club are currently seeking funding to purchase a new kit with the revamped logo. The Club recognises that football is a sport that brings people and communities together with the natural environment. Thus, in a pledge to embed environmental sustainability into the ongoing management of the Club, they have sourced Adidas ‘Primegreen’ shirts, which are made from a series of high-performance sustainable materials including recycled polyester.
If you are motivated to aid the Vasse Soccer Club in their move towards sustainability and inclusivity, visit their online store at https://vassesoccerclub.com/. The Vasse Community Hoodie is our favourite and features the tiger snake design.
