The Vasse Community Garden is reaching the final stages of planning approvals and lease negotiations. As the Garden will be built in the Wadandi Track, near Discovery at Play Childcare in Vasse Village, there’s a few extra layers of approvals needed because of its location in this historic reserve.
Once the final approvals and funding are in place, a Development Application will be lodged so that works can start on site to build the garden and facilities, which include a storage / meeting shed and shared planter beds.
The facilities will allow for some other community uses, including as a meeting place for the Vasse Lions.
Join the Community Garden Committee
The focus of the Committee is bringing our community together to learn about, share and participate in sustainable gardening and living practices,
Being part of the Committee is a great opportunity to get involved with your community and meet your neighbours and they’re now seeking new members, particularly as the garden gets closer to coming to life. If you’d like to join, head to the Vasse Community Garden website here and submit an application form.
Expressions of interest for a Fundraising / Grants Convenor and Social Media Manager are specifically being sought by the Committee to help the group meet their fundraising goals and get this amazing project off the ground.
Contribute to the Garden through Containers for Change
You can also play a part in the growth of the garden by donating the proceeds of your Containers for Change to the Committee. All you need to do is drop your containers to one of the designated collections points and donate your refund to the Vasse Community Garden Scheme (Scheme ID C10365993).
Local return points are:
- Return-It Busselton (8 Wright Street, Busselton)
- Return-It Express Busselton (Rendezvous Road, Vasse).
