We’re excited to welcome Samara Hartnett to the role of Vasse Community Development Officer.

Get to Know Samara

Samara grew up in the South West and has always had a strong connection to our region.

After completing high school in Busselton, Samara went on to study Fine Art and Craft at TAFE before completing a Bachelor of Arts in Internet Communications.

Samara is looking forward to becoming part of the growing Vasse community.

“Community development is a wonderful opportunity to engage with people on a diversity of topics and projects they really care about. My approach to this unique opportunity within Vasse Estate will be to acknowledge a diversity of community needs and collaborate with motivated and enthusiastic community members,” Samara said.

“I’m excited to be someone in our community you can float a creative thought by, discuss an idea with or point out a community need to.”

What is the role of the Community Development Officer

Established in 2018, the Community Development Officer role was created to strengthen and unite our wonderful Vasse community.

In this role, Samara will continue to work with the community, coordinating community development programs, initiatives, events and groups. This includes things like:

  • Chatting with the community to understand resident wants and needs;
  • Coordinating an annual schedule of community events and activities;
  • Developing relationships between residents and groups to encourage community initiatives, events and programs;
  • Managing the distribution of sponsorships to community groups;
  • Investigating grants and sponsorships for external funding where possible.
