News
The heart of Vasse is its vibrant and connected community, and there’s no better example of this than the exciting developments happening with our local groups.
Vasse Community Garden
The Vasse Community Garden recently held its AGM and the future looks bright! The dedicated committee has been hard at work securing grants and funding for essential tools and gardening supplies. Hon Sabine Winton MLA and the State Government Department of Communities have pledged $10,000 towards the Garden as part of the additional funds available for the 2023/24 Community Garden Grants program.
But that’s just the beginning—groundworks for a new community hub at the end of Minion Court are set to begin by the end of the year! If you would like to know more or want to join, please get in touch with Vasse Community Garden on vassegardenc@gmail.com.
Vasse Walking Group
Looking to stay active, improve your fitness, and connect with fellow Vasse locals? Every Wednesday morning, we’ve got two fantastic walking groups ready to welcome you!
- 8:00am Group – 1 hour walk
- 8:30am Group – 30 minute walk
Meeting point: Timothée Statue (at the top of Napoleon Promenade, opposite Shell Reddy Express).
Both groups finish up at the same time and head for coffee and a chat at the lovely and local Magpie Coffee Cafe.
The walking group is completely free, and it’s a great way to improve your fitness, boost mental health, and meet new people in the community. Whether you’re looking for a longer walk or a quick half-hour, we’ve got something for everyone!
If you’re keen to join, and simply turn up on a Wednesday at the time that suits you best! If the above times don’t work for you, feel free to suggest another day or time to Michelle, our Community Officer, at community@vasse.com.au. If we get enough interest, we’ll set up another group, too.
Vasse Book Club
The Vasse Book Club is another group that continues to bring people together. They meet once a month, and although their current group is full, there’s always room for more book lovers in Vasse!
If you’re interested in starting another book club, the Busselton Library can assist by providing books for the group. Local cafes like the gorgeous Bohemian Brew in Vasse make an ideal setting to meet, chat, enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat.
Help us expand our community groups!
We are always looking to expand our community activities even further. How about a group for all the wonderful dog owners in Vasse? Imagine the joy of Schnauzers, Cavoodles, Labradors, or Labradoodles gathering for a playdate while their owners share stories, health tips, and recommendations.
Other group ideas include:
- Paint and Sip – come together to share a glass of wine while improving your painting and crafting talents along likeminded individuals.
- Outdoor Yoga – with Vasse’s variety of green spaces, there is plenty of room to instruct an outdoor yoga group to breathe in the fresh air and meditate, all while improving your health!
- Chess Club – Vasse has many tables throughout its parks, so why not bring your chess boards outdoors and teach the community one of the oldest and loved games of the world? Set your timers!
If you’re interested in starting a specific group or any other community initiative, reach out to Michelle, our Community Officer, at community@vasse.com.au and she’ll help you get started.
